The Baillairgé Foundation joins the World of Roncalli

On September 30th, 2021, the Roncalli International Foundation and the Baillairgé Foundation joined forces in their common mission to support communities in impoverished countries in the Global South.

The Baillairgé Foundation is a Canadian non-profit organization that was founded in 1986 by Dr. Claude Baillairgé. Since that time, the Baillairgé Foundation has supported seminarians in several countries in the Global South, including Cameroun, India, Honduras and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Thanks to this support, over 1,000 seminarians have been ordained. Its objectives also include help to missionary priests, funding for humanitarian aid projects such as access to drinking water, and support towards a new generation of religious.

As the best path forward in the pursuit of its mission, the Baillairgé Foundation has decided, after much reflection and a lengthy discernment process, to transfer its assets, programs and activities to the Roncalli International Foundation. As such, the Baillairgé Foundation ceased its operations and activities on September 30th and these will be integrated into those of the Roncalli Foundation in the coming weeks.

The Roncalli Foundation has created the Baillairgé Fund, which is designated specifically to perpetuate the mission of the Baillairgé Foundation. Donations can be made directly to this fund in support of the specific works that were put in place by the Baillairgé Foundation.

Through our newsletter and website, we will provide regular updates on the activities supported by the Baillairgé Fund.

If you wish to donate to the Baillairgé Fund, you can send a cheque made out to the Roncalli International Foundation, specifying that your contribution should be allocated to the Baillairgé Fund, and indicating how you want your donation to be used (training seminarians, humanitarian work, offering Mass intentions).

Please send your cheque to the following address:

"The Roncalli International Foundation is honoured to pursue the work of the Baillairgé Foundation, which was built up with much love and solidarity over the years. At the Roncalli Foundation, we are witness to the vital role religious orders play in their communities, and we are committed to sustaining the work of the Baillairgé Foundation, supporting seminarians’ training and providing essential humanitarian aid, such as access to drinking water.

We are very pleased to welcome all benefactors, partners and allies of the Baillairgé Foundation into the wide Roncalli family. We welcome you with joy as we all strive to create a world that is more human."

"We feel it is vital to thank all the benefactors who have supported the Baillairgé Foundation since its creation in 1986. We are very proud to be able to say that through our Foundation, more than 1,000 seminarians across Africa, Latin America and India have succeeded in being ordained as priests. With your help, we have been able to support numerous missionaries, as well as the next generation of the priesthood, through Mass intentions, prayer books and your generous donations, so as to accomplish the work of bringing Jesus to others.

We also wish to thank the Roncalli International Foundation for having accepted to continue the Baillairgé Foundation’s mission in these countries, ensuring that it endures by administering the Baillairgé Fund with a wonderful, competent team. This Fund will maintain the beautiful Church mission that we ourselves have contributed to, along with thousands of individuals."
